Volkswagen T4 caravelle
Any body had any dealings with the above issues mpg and the such might be looking around the late 90s early 2000 models ever increasing family and livestock need more space and useable seating

my dad has a 2000 model camper van. its a straight diesel 2.5 (i think), not brilliant on fuel 30mpg. its no good in london, iirc its like 100 a day. but i dunno
the newer models with tdi engines are better and faster... but who wants to go to london anyway lol he wont he's like 75 ffs its a vw itll last forever if you take care of it |

Wasn't the caravelle a 4x4 version ?
VW hold their price for sure but still rot like any iron beast My brothers been converting panel vans to campers (VWs) and they look good till you take a tin opener to them |

As an ex vw/Audi tech of 7 yrs, I can confirm if looked after it will be a cracker. If its a late 90's or later with a tdi lump, it will be sound, u need a svc history really and Cambelt due every 60k so if not done get one on it. Gear boxes can be troublesome, but otherwise bomb proof

Caravelle is the minibus/MPV version of the Transporter Makeitfit. T4 is way different to the early, rot-happy rear-engined stuff. Not saying they don't rust though...
As mentioned, gearboxes can be a weakness, but pretty obvious if all's not well. 1.9 non-turbo diesels are best avoided. 2.4 is a five-pot non-turbo diesel. 1.9TD is good, 2.5TDi also good, if a bit more complicated. |

cheers for the info still at the thinking stage at the mo but will have to do something in about 9 months three car seats and a booster seat plus no matter how hard i try my two labs will not squeeze in the small bit left with the third row of seats in
now wheres that piggy bank |
