R3mR staying a bit longer
Well I was all fired up to buy a Grand Cherokee 3.0 diesel auto when my R3mR would not start due to flat battery.
The alternator was not charging so my local man removed the unit and it turned out it was a re-furbished unit by Rotating Electrics or something similar. Sent to local alternator repair man who found the rectifier pack was 'fried'. Failed as it was a 120 amp/h alternator fitted with a 80 amp/h rectifier sometime before I bought the motor 3 and a bit years ago! When I started to look closer at the Jeep I was interested in I decided to stay with the devil I know. No doubt this might change if she costs me any more in repairs in the next 6 months. This year has been expensive with new glow plugs, all rear suspension bushes, rear shockers and other little oddments. |
