A close shave, wet or dry. (Shaving)

Re:- Facial hair (Just thought I would make it clear).
I have always wet shaved, but at Christmas my wife bought me a low cost rechargeable 3 headed rotary shaver, (Less than £10) to see how I get on.
It saves time and will be handy on the boat etc.

Now I am thinking of upgrading to a better quality rechargeable unit, I have looked at Philishave / braun, rotary heads, but how good are the horizontal foil type?

After my shave it feels like I have 8 hours of growth as it doesn't get as close as a wet shave.

I have seen battery versions that take 2-3 AA batteries, and mains rechargeable types, but will they go say for 2 weeks without charging.
We do get occasional shore power, and we have a mains inverter, but I don't want to run the inverter 8 hours just to charge the shaver.
Do any of you use lotions or potions, before or after ?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I don't want to be spending £80 either.
How long do the foils last, and how much are a replacement set ?

I've always used the rotary head type and my wife says I have a face like a babys bottom.

...podgy and full of shit.....

ive always used rotary too,andit never ever gets as close as a wet shave. Ive never tried one of the fancy posh shavers though, i believe they do get close...!

Rotary for me....have used them for years... usually wait until ARGOS has a good un in their sale

Usually get a very good phillishave for under £50 and it last a couple of years... never changed the heads as they seem to last a long time !!! Tried the flat foil ones but they tend to rip lumps out my face if you push too hard

... never feels as close as a wet shave but always seem to cut myself doing that

not a good look with big white spots on yer face from a styptic pencil.. and it stings

wet shave for me normally but have been using one of those phillips beard trimmers lately which leaves a bit of stubble,just fancied a change

Looks like the rotary one, a triple headed is probably better than a twin head, I guess, but would a twin be good enough?

Wet Shave in the shower!!, some times with shaving foam.

If I haven't got time or showered the night before I just hack at it with a bic, Close enough for work but not for the ladies!!!
