Unless you are sure ern is conducting a grammatical wind up in which case i will stand corrected, that is exactly the condescending type of (not so subtle in this case) nastiness I mentioned.

Its not banter if you're dyslexic as my mate who was bullied off a forum by an individual with an aproach similar to Ssteves will tell you. If ern is not taking the p and of course he may be, I don't know him, but if he isnt and comes on to protest he now has site admin calling it banter and a contributor humiliating him. Good level playing field........not! Nothing personal, just an observation. |

im with him too. spelling and punctuation is good but not the end of the world, ok it takes a bit of effort to work it out.... its not a problem for me in response to ern1e's question. not everyone has time like that to put into it. some might be on holiday or sick. some do other jobs like terra does, whereas i just sit here and watch while im here. but there is usualy someone modding here so you have a point of contact overall i think there is a good blend of mods and modding styles here |

Ernie (TA21 as he was) is a top bloke and he does spell and say how he sees it, He has been here from the very early days (16-11 2004)!. and made nearly 500 posts.
I think if he has a couple of questions to ask then he should ask away. Anyone that has met Ernie knows what a good hearted bloke he really is and he`s one of them that would travel miles to help anyone and has done for this club in the past. Well done Ernie. You`ll always get my respect. Mav. |

Well, i have just got back home and ead the latest additions to this thread, I think it is a pretty good example of how small issues can be resolved without any real problems, and overall is not negative at all.
I think it is also fair to say though that the mods are not super human and while they obviously have an interest in 4x4's Nisssan and forums/ computing, here are issues that arrise that are beyond theor area of expertise and sometimes mstkaes are made. I think in any area of life, for avery individual involved her has to be a 'what's in it for me?' for members the answer is a good lvely club, but put yourself in a mods position and ask yourself the same question! I cant think why someone woudl want all the problems for little reward outside being able to say 'I am a moderator' so personaly I don see this as an us and them just members and members with more responisbilites. I don't see why we cant have a simple way of resolving issues without making any more hard work for mods. As i have said before th only threads i have seen that have caused real problems are those that make negative references to race/ethnicity, so in this case a simple rule of thumb would be if someoone complains delete the comments they complained about, simple! no half baked opinions flying around making it worse, just delete and move on! job done. |

Parental advisory 18+
Just read through this whole thread and now decided to throw in my 2 penny's.
Bat and some mod's have been stating that the site is being run in a more relaxed less 'hands-on' way. Ok good. try it. let's see how it goes. HOWEVER How can anyone say that, ok racism is not acceptable on the site. How can people say that when all that has really happened in this whole thread is certain people seem to shoot others down at every oppertunity. DISCRIMINATE in ways which really are as bad as racist comments. If i was to start a thread saying *TEAM WALES are all arseholes and a bunch of stuck up dickheads who take the piss out of anyone that's not welsh(only an example) the whole site would come down on me and i would effectivly get told to **** off. So my point being why should some people be allowed to get away with it and others get ridiclued. after all as is stated many times everyone is allowed there own opinion. Poeple mention about good friends and things. Personally i don't see it. I see some members 'on-top' decideing who fits and who doesn't. 2) Last thing is all the piss taking in topics. Fine yeah again bat has decided to take a laid back approach. yeah good. but coming on, taking the piss, then leaving. Honestly NO-ONE should really be doing that. yeah ok with the members you know yeah, take the piss all you want, but not with guys you don't. Not everyone are thick skinned and some people can take offense really easy. And bat with you running a site with over 1000 memebrs and £10 a head. you'd really miss that if it all went. I'm not trying to tell you how to do anything. i'm merely saying my point of view. *Please note this was only an example and by know means represents any truth or opinion. |

Johnboy - all good points, but I'm not sure we'll ever escape a lot of that because by its very nature, this site represents a cross-section of life, so its a bit like a Friday night in your local pub - all sorts going down but hopefully we all stagger home happy at the end of the night, mission accomplished so to speak!
Only difference is, nobody gets laid.... |
