Oh well time for a CB rethink. Place where I ordered the DIN fitting CB said that the last one they had had a faulty display, so I would have to wait while they got some more in stock ??

Now he rings me to say that they are out of production and a new model has replaced it and he won't be able to get these yet?? Made in Germany.

Sounds like a 'Oh crap I have not got one, I'll try and get one" scenario to me. Just wish I'd known that before I fitted that damn great big DIN enclosure on my dash

Maybe it is a blessing in disguise? Will now look round for other options, maybe an under seat box with controls on the mic. Are they any good/have they got all the functions on the mic?

Have a look at the pic's on here https://plus.google.com/photos/10616...089?banner=pwa you could prob make up a bracket to mount under the roof switches cover & secure it to the bolts in the roof behind the cover & then attach the CB to the bracket I don't have a sunroof so might make up a roof console over the winter

Not having a sunroof, makes things a lot easier, I looked at doing something like this a while ago, but found there were several problems:-

Sunroof... there is not a lot of room up there if you have the sunroof, between the screen and the roof. By the time you have even a small CB, with the coax connector on the back, and the power plug, plus the Mic plug on the front, things start getting very tight to make it look smart.

Behind that plastic switch cover is pretty densely packed with wires, connectors, and the motor, there is not really any room to slip anything else inside there.

Anything that sticks down from the roof any lower, gets in the way of the rear view mirror, and as it is stuck to the screen it is not easy to reposition it lower. If you do go to the hassle of reposition it lower down the screen, then the spare wheel gets in the way more, reducing it's effectiveness.

The Sunvisors are cut to go round the mirror, they again restrict the width of anything you can do up there.

In the end I gave up on the idea of putting anything up there.

Just a shame that I fitted that damn DIN case to the dash

Never mind, maybe I can make the DIN case holes a little less noticable

35 inches of rust per yard more like
It's put on some weight over the last few days, apparently telling the mot man that rust is lighter than carbon is not a valid spell
So instead some welding magic was needed
Funnily enough I'll be lowering the suspension at the weekend
