Hah you liked it when all the landy arches were still attached (as per OP pics)

I got the original arches with it. Might swap them back seen as it's running narrower tyres now.

You jealous of the roof bed?

I'm getting around to dealing with the arches Got to sort out the other y60 first and then i'm hoping to give this one a going over. Lots of bits need sorting. Plan to do something about the rivet holes and clean up the standard arch mounts so they are more secure. Hoping the standard ones will go back on the front - might need to add a lip. I've got very similar landy arches on a vitara... in my opinion they ruin how that thing looks there too - took them off recently and it looked way better.

Tyres now are 35x12.5x16 on 16x8's with something like -32 offset. It came to me on a set of 35x11.5x15 simex extreme's on it on 15x10 rims. They'd had a hard life, got lots of chunks missing, serious gouges out of the walls, and one had a slow puncture... and the spare has some sort of gunk in the valve... i've pretty much written them off as off road only for an upgrade to an offroad only toy i have. Getting some pretty serious vibrations on the Maxxis though - worse than the simex's. I pretty much know the list of things to check/rebuild to see if it can be improved - but really i'd like to know what has already been done. I've seen Andy L's threads when he stripped down the axle but it all goes a bit quiet so not fully sure what got replaced when it went back together... getting some ticking on full lock in 4wd too which i'm guessing is CV's.

Not really sure what the suspension situation is either. Previous seller told me its got a 4" suspension lift... comparing it to my other y60 which has a 2" lift i'm not convinced. But if it has i'm not sure what's been done as castor correction (perhaps that could be affecting severity of steering vibration). On asking the seller what the suspension setup is he then said 2" ome springs on the rear and TJM springs in the front... and longer shocks from a land cruiser. The front has got what look like about 2" spacers on it. The whole vehicle pretty much sits at a slant which i'm fairly sure is due to a bigger spring on the front one side than other (there's more coils)...

Oh wait - its now on the Maxxis seen in the front on picture. The from the side pictures is BFG KM2's 33x12.5x15 on 15x10 -40 or something offset rims. These are back on my 2.8 now - was using them on the 4.2 while figuring out what to do about the simex's.

Few problems there then mate I'm sure you will get it sorted.

Clicking in 4WD could be CV's but do you know if the previous owner fitted a LOKKA in the front diff? Mine has one fitted in my Terrano and mine ratchets in 4WD.

Maybe on one of these tyre ripping expeditions he's snapped a spring and put an old one back on just so it's driveable Check them out and see if they all match colour, shape, etc

Sounds a bit like it's time to start again properly Miss matched springs, spacers and shocks are going to screw up steering and ride obviously. IF it does have a 4" lift then you'll defo need to sort the castor maybe space the arms too.
My simex have been beaten rotten but still awesome offroad. I gave up resealing the rims and went for tubes, nice easy fix

Yeah i think plan is going inner tubes. They've still got tonnes of tred left and are quite a big upgrade to what got on the toy at the moment.

Gotta say i'm damn tempted to pull it all off and chuck a 2" iron man kit under there. Already got the kit on the 2.8 and plenty happy with it. While i'm at it the underside needs sealing and i'll get anymore welding required done.

Think it's pretty unlikely there's a locker in the front. Currently to engage the rear difflock you have to switch a vaccumm line under the bonnet - which requires two people (or someone with a bit of reach and a screwdriver) to open because the spring can't overcome the bonnet + treadplate...
Apparantly the solenoid has gone? But i've had the vehicle jacked up and not noticed any locker style behaviour.
Also the oil pressure gauge isn't working... been told this is likely the sender - anyone know where i can get a cheap replacement? Nissan want well over £100.

Also worth checking the rubber pipe that goes to the actuator. Could well be perished and so unable to engage the locker .
Nissan 1st breakers may be worth a try for the oil sender.

Great truck.. Oil pressure gauges in y60's never seem great, think ive only ever owned one which was reliable. If i had taken any notice of the oil pressure gauges i would have spent my life worrying and there was nothing wrong with the engines..

Yeah i think i'd come to that conclusion myself after some research. If anything i'll possibly get something aftermarket to replace with.

Don't suppose you have any experience with rev counters misbehaving if you've had a few?
