Got it yesterday afternoon. not had chance to give it a good look over. Drives ok, runs a bit cold (dodgy thermostat?), gearbox bit notchy, but no major clunks from suspension or transmission. Bit of rust on sills, chassiss needs steam clean and waxoyl. my kids love it, can't get them out of it! need to change all the oils (does any one have the oils specs?) then give it a good run.
Overall well pleased with it, its in fab condition for its age/mileage. My old Disco was a '93 and 4 years ago it was rusting to bits! All the 4WD High and Low engage smoothly. |

hi spook well done on the purchase of the truck.
when topping up gearbox over fill slightly as these boxes tend to starve top shaft in box so a little extra gets splashed up there. if running cold new thermostat will sort it . if when your towing caravan / horse box and overheating problems accure it will problebly be the radiator fins these crumble away and reduce cooling effect, also above 55mph the fan struggles to keep its cool while towing . rgds.iandougla |

just bought one
HI dsgrnmcm.
access is from underneath truck filler plug is on side of gearbox . different models have the plug on different sides. sorry cannot recall if spanner is an allen key or 1/2" drive squaire as on a rachet. 1/2 pint of extra oil will be plenty you may have to tilt truck to side filler is on to aid over filling. WARNING WARNING AWARNING WARNING WARNING IF CHANGING OIL ON DIFF/GEARBOX/TRANSFERE BOX. ALWAYS BUT ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU CAN GET FILLER PLUG OUT BEFORE REMOVING DRAIN PLUG . OR YOU ARE STUFFED. WORK SAFE IF JACKING TRUCK UP MAKE SURE ITS SAFE. USE AXLE STANDS ECT. rgds.iandouglas |

Still in negotiation with ins company they want to double premium(!) even though annual quote same as current rover! |
