Cool Left Facebook never to return!

I left Facebook about a month ago just got fed up of some friends bleating about where they had gone on holiday abroad with endless pictures and a lot of women posting pictures of themselves and then mates (women) saying "how great you look babes". Never struck me as a place for vehicle advice or proper talk plus the ranting expletives from drunken FB'ers.

I joined this forum when we had the Terrano r3mR and have stayed. I have unanswered questions on Jeep forums about small problems or seeking advice and ziltch replies or duff gen. Even got thrown off the Hyundai Site for naff all except citing my experience at the hand of a local dealer.

Yes Terrano owners are a shrinking pool and the Muranos never sold in any volume in the UK. I am sure lots of members have moved to other 4 x 4 s but we could retain them if the members other rides section had sub groups for say Jeep or dare I say it Landrover owners who moved away from Terranos. (Assuming thats not technically too difficult)

I have had more Jeep advice here than from the two Jeep Forums I have used plus we are a sound mix of members with many tastes and different characters. Plus we have our overseas visitors. Long live this Forum!!

Anyway when the Jeep comes up for replacing I fancy a Patrol just could not find one when we needed to replace the Hyundai at short notice!

Some interesting points of view today. I have to say I think Faceache is definitely effecting forums of all kinds. I still prefer this forum for the reasons already stated. This forum has evolved and members have come and gone, some have stayed and there's been spats but generally speaking it's been stable and reasonably reliable. Hope it carries on because it's well worth being a member. Don't think I would of even thought about a project car if it hadn't been for this forum, as it is Im thoroughly enjoying the project and also posting about it. The advice I've had has been priceless. The club/forum has changed over the years and I think always will.

Just watch members and new members arrive as said with the first frosts and defo the snow when wipers don't work or 4wd

As the evenings draw in that will also make a difference too.

I read a lot of posts but not necessarily add to them. When at work however it could be 2 or 3 days before I can log in for updates. I like the forum and the people who contribute even though I've never met any of you except our Rick.
Hopefully there will be a meet I'll be able to get to soon and put some faces to names.

I check in here most days for new posts and read a lot of them, but my nature is fairly quiet so I post very little.

For a while there seemed to be a culture of rubbishing ideas or thoughts of those that were outside of the group of core members, but happily that seems to have been left behind now, but along with some members maybe?

For my part I check in here as well as FB, and find some value in both.

Still a very well spent tenner for me :-)

I`m still here.......

I cannot abide `social networks`, so stick with this forum, where I can read learn and apply as necessary.
I don`t contribute technically, as my experience is considerably less than many others here.
My greater experience is of limited use here, but available as necessary.
I like the family, relatively respectful, humerous athmosphere here, so long may it last......

I think I may have stepped outside for a minute, did someone mention dancing girls?

Is this a private party?

Or have I got a crossed line to the "other" Forum.

Does anyone else remember "those"magazines?

Dancing girl you say ! Here you go
As for my attendance of late I plead business of all types short of the Black Pearl
That said , sailing season winding down now after a stonking year for me. I went to Holland to compete in the world's biggest catamaran race in June.
Then in July went to compete in the F18 Worlds in Germany. August was pretty much all local competitions and this weekend I've just done the UK Nationals
I've got shed loads of work on too , which is good, and soon to get a lock up garage workshop the boy (I may be borrowing it a bit )
I do use faceache a fair bit both for my sailing mates and 4x4 stuff. It's great for general chit chat and quick fire Q&A but shite for information retention.
As soon as I get back on the Pearl you will be first to know and receive all my pics n threads n that

Looking forward to updates on Black Pearl when you get back to it. I got the bug now, me n my lad were talking body lift kits the other day. The wife sat in it and mentioned something about her having the car but that soon got swept under the carpet

I'm still here, become very distant with lots of home issues with neighbours ect.

I did go quiet after my grumble a while back but hoping to spark it all up again soon.

The forum is a great place!
