There may not be many on the list but at least there are some and its good to find them. -welldone- -cheers-
Thanks which Nissan garage did you use and were they any good :?: :
The early problem was that Ford garages were not that good at servicing Mavericks, after all these were Nissans, a Ford garage managed to jack up the Mav by the cill and not the chassis and damaged the lower cill edge.
Another changed the rocker box gasket and forgot to replace an "o" ring on one of the bolts, it took them 3 visits to sort an oil leak when oil was pouring down the back of the engine.

The Nissan garage I used was 5 years ago and their last task was to sort out a leaking bearing on the rear axle. Their solution was to replace the seal, and a few weeks later it went again, because it was the bearing that had collapsed and not just the seal. After another service the garage managed to shear the head off one of the 6 allen headed screws that hold on the near side free-wheeling hub, I only found out when I replaced the front disk brakes.
Citroen dealers are as bad, on a service on the wife's Picasso they managed to forget to replace the air intake pipe, on inspection at home I phoned them and the part was still on their bench. They also managed to jack up the vehicle by the cill and damage that.
So I can not recommend any garage that I have used recently.
Am I expecting too much from a garage.... I think not, especially when you are paying £60 + per hour.
I certainly welcome a list of good garages, I guess that we will find some good independant garages outside of the main dealers.
Best regards, Rustic

Another helpful garage to add to your list Willow.
Thanks Mav

i was pondering weather to add to hb's really good idea. to make a list as a list without all the extra bits included

the dilemma is that if i suggest something i would be just adding to the extra bits and not actually recommending another good garage

now im this far in i might as well suggest it .....
so when the final list is done it could be renationalized so if or when you break down you can have a list of numbers of "friendly" garages in your glove box so you can say to the rac / aa thats where you want the truck to go

yes yes yes thats what the list is all about :
But like I said we need a few more garages early days yet.
If we can get n/s/e/w of the country covered and then add phone numbers
it would be great.

Great idea, could it be done as a form of download, maybe together with a source of suppliers of parts under different headings, eg tyres, exhausts and batteries.. with address etc A huge task for someone.

While we are on this subject it would be great to have all the threads on things like tyres and tyre pressures under seperate headings, but this would take ages to organise. (and could be expensive) Very often we see the same questions coming up, like torsion bars, clutch issues and LSD issues, types of oils etc. A lot of the information is already available but difficult to find even with the search facility.
Not forgetting that this club is also about fellowship, people giving opinions about what they believe and drawing on other peoples experiences. That is also what makes this club great.
Best regards, Rustic

All good ideas
If we take them one at a time it could be done.
I started this thread because I want to get out and about in my terrano
and if I break down I can call the AA but as we all know they are limited in what they can do.
If we as a club have a list of good garages across the country when we are in trouble we know where to go or be taken to.
So come everyone list your garage for what ever reason and we can get the lists started
