Do it all in one!
NAS HARD DRIVE 1. Lots of storage for your computer. 2. Access all your computers/data/printers etc anywhere in the House 3. Or even abroad...via internet. 4. UP TO 5 CAMERAS VIEWABLE FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! 5. Lots more besides Nas drives cost around £150 plus for a 2tb. |

I have the Maplin 4 camera card, this can be programmed to upload recordings to your server if the system is triggered, so it does not matter too much if they nick the system, the mugshots will be on your server, card is around £50 plus whatever you want to spend on camera's. I have 4 most from Aldi £20 each with night vision, they say 5 metres in reality more like 1, but if they are breaking in they will be pretty close
In theory the insurance premiums will be cheaper yeah right |

But I should add that, the best deterrent, is the fact that something resembling a camera is seen, and a notice or two that states cctv with 24 hour recording is in operation, they do not know if it is dummy or not, but will assume it is real unless proven otherwise, Rick

i put stickers up in my windows, visible, but only enough so I can catch them looking. Ive found my wireless IP's to be perfect for me, i.e. someone with no money to spare! If I wanted to, I could even setup a laptop somewhere, anywhere, and have the cameras record all the time, but I agree that a dvr is the better option if you have a few more pennies. The company I work for sell them as well, www.iviewcameras.co.uk not sure if we have any cheap deals though, but generally the cameras are good quality.

Colin I assume you've called the police????? So what if they are getting fed up - its what they get paid for.
One cheap option will be a webcam wired to your lappy but of the sort that has a motion detector so it only records when it detects movement. I've had one in the past but chucked it out when i upgraded. Not tried this but worth a squint... http://lifehacker.com/5233052/motion...ity-camera-app |
