Lent mine to my bro-in law a couple of months back when his Disco 2 TD5 got written off in an accident.

Even after a couple of weeks with mine, he still went out again and bought a 300Tdi Disco, ok with lots of toys, winch, snorkel etc, but for christ's sake theres a rust hole in the axle casing.....

You know what they say.....You can't educate pork.

I know the Discos are (supposedly ) good vehicles , but one thing that always put me of when I was shopping around before i got the Terrano was the interior (on the age/trim in my price bracket).

The switchgear and button style reminded me all the time of a Maestro or Metro

I thought all the disco oil leaks were designed to provide an anti corrosion coating, as well as marking its spot

well that doesn't explain why my neighbour paid nearly £3000 for a P plater and then spent a week chiselling out the rusty remains of the boot floor and two x/members underneath.....still good value he insists, oh and then the head gasket went right in the middle of the Severn Bridge, except that turned out to be a hole melted in the head between two of the cylinders, so a new head too.....bargain

Clucking bell

Mind you when I was researching car before last and a disco was a potential buy, i was warned off them because of leaking or failing gearboxes.

A female colleague I worked with assured me that her two year old diesel example had not had any gearbox problems at all whilst they had had it.

Further questioning revealed that was because it ha had a new gearbox fitted before they got it 2 month prior to the conversation

Another mate bought an "ex demonstrator" from the local Landrover dealer.

Yes it was an ex demonstrator........................from the landrover test/demo track at the factory .

Basically due to the fact it had done more wading in a couple of months than most do in a lifetime shall we say certain problems had been induced, mainly electrical.

Yeah my cousin spent £3k on a P reg Disco, 3 door one with rusty body and high miles. WHY? lol

Got text from brother saying how good it drives. Picked his astra Coupe up to day so got a little sports 2.2 petrol to race round town in for the weekend!
