Help needed please.
Hi all,
I need a crankshaft sensor for my 1997 Maverick. I have contacted Ford a nice man whistled throught his teeth and then said "its gone cost around £150". I tried Nissan because everyone keeps telling me its the same engine ,the guy there was as helpful as a chocolate fire guard telling me I needed to provide my registration so I told him,he was very quick I was only on hold 5 minuets,he then said my car was a Ford Maverick( told you he was quick I told him it was a ford in the first ten seconds of speaking to him) and he politely told me that he was a Nissan dealer to which I replied "I know but its the same engine" his reply" I cant do a price search without a reg" so use mine he cant its a Ford so I politely said thanks and hung up. So please can anybody tell me where I can get one thats not going to cost me a fortune before my husband bans me from driving it in case I do some damage. |

Good idea jst be careful though as special order parts which it may be (dont know until you ask of course ) have to be paid for in advance and are non refundable @ Evans Halshaw, our local.

Good point, but the drivetrain is pure Nissan.....only a few badges and the trim/grille were 'Forded' as far as I know...

Just one point though; how do you know you need a crankshaft sensor anyway?
If its from a fault code it might be that the fix is actually something else - often the case, so see if someone like Toolbox happens along to advise.....or PM him...before you spend silly money... For TBs benefit, what problems/symptoms are you getting? |

Try contacting member hamond1027, he is from a Nissan dealer, may be able to help get the part for you.

Many thanks for the responses so far, the engine management light comes on intermittently along with a drop in power sometimes the car may just cut out altogether but restart on the turn of key. Husband took sensor off a while ago as I was having same problem then and the fault code pointed to the sensor, he cleaned it replaced it and everything was ok for a number of weeks but then it started again once ever so often but now gradually getting worse i.e. light comes on a least once per journey apart from the light coming on and slight drop in power everything else is ok. |
