No... Mk2 was made before all the penny pinching... far superior.. and cheaper to tax as well...

Super strong body cills capped with scaffold pole
20% stronger springs all round
aggressive off road tyres on wheels so just swap.
Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.

suppose a late mk4 shell on a mk2 chassis, no not a ringer officer, might just trump a mk2 to keep low tax and if a P reg to avoid eu94/20 to allow custom towing receiver......
