Default Boot CD changer unit problems ?

My BMW has the original factory radio with a boot mounted CD unit and it seems to work for a few days then shows up as an error on the radio.

The cartridge unit into which you load the cassettes seems to be a flimsy plastic thing.
Anyone know if you can buy just the cartridge or is it the whole boot unit that has to be replaced ?

Angry No words of wisdom from anyone here ?

Okay I guess I a not alone in such a device being the first one on a vehicle I own.

Thought someone would tell me to soak it in washing powder overnight and all would be fixed !
