Default Gear Lever Button

What's the button that I've found? Besides putting an amber light on next to the speedo cluster it must do something.

It's a factory fit thing on the auto gear selector below the release button there's another button. When I press it there's an amber indicator that says off and what looks like 0/0

Believe it is Over Drive, Briggie and others can confirm as I do not have an Auto, Rick

Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.

think if auto will be overdrive.

more modern cars sometimes a snowflake symbol, so can start in 2nd in snow/ice.

Smile overdrive button

It is the overdrive button as has been said.
If you get up to say 60 mph in top gear and then switch the overdrive to off you will see and feel the revs increase by around 400 rpm.

If there is no change then it is not working, on my r3mR it developed a fault due to the wiring having a break where it comes out of the shift lever and into the loom it is quite a thin pair of cables as I remeber.

It was an easy fix.

Will be going up the A1 tomorrow so will check.

As for the snow flake, have one of those on the sport mode rocker switch, wonder if I'll need it tomorrow

That's right, Over drive should be on all the time,warning light on cluster to tell you if its off. you only need to turn it off if you need a bit of engine breaking, say on a long hill decent to save the breaks, or on a long hill clime,towing up hill or a long hill ,on any where you may be putting more than normal strain on the auto box.If you turn it off in normal running it will increase fuel consumption by about 1/3 ,John

its overdrive jim , don't turn it off unless you are off roading .... and if you have a little red button at the bottom of your gear selector ....... DONT PRESS IT

Thumbs up Using the Red Button.

The only time I used the Red Button was when looking to overtake when not on a dual carriageway. I found the higher rpm gave you some good pulling power and once the manoever was complete I would click it back into overdrive. Gave better boost than the eco/power A/T switch that my model had.

the red button at the very bottom of the selector on my mistral , disengaged the gearbox ( for towing I think )

My r3mR did not have one of those Briggie but it was mentioned in my old handbook.

Presumably on the Mistral you had it enabled the gearbox to be in neutral and allowed the ignition key to be removed ?
