A 51 plate disco will be a disco 2 with the TD5 engine, if you like fixing motors every weekend with expensive parts buy it now been there, seen it & done it with a disco 2 never again TD5's often suffer cracked heads, faulty ABS pumps, air bags leak & their compressor fails often, injector harness needs replacing every year as they fill up with all & you will get water pouring off the headliner down the back door into the boot & at the front into your lap & i've just touched on a couple of the common problems
Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 are nice motors just make sure they have had all the recalls done just phone a jeep dealer with the reg & ask |

Merc 5 cylinder engines
Quote:
The 6 cylinder V6 engines were sound. The 2.7 engine was based on the old 2.5 TD but upgraded with common rail and a few extra cubic centimetres bored out. They are reliable but not very punchy engines fitted to the old shaped ML series. I am not aware of injector issues on the 2.7 engine. I am not a fan of 5 cylinder engines I had a C250 TD Estate and it was very boring. I like the Jeep the later V6 versions are much better but a tad thirstier but a bit more than I want to pay. |
