Default Side impacting wisdom tooth

So I have an op booked for half two this afternoon to have a tooth removed.

Needless to say I'm sh** scared of tooth work, before December it had been 12 years since the last visit! after how painful my filling was I am dreading this today.

I had 6 injections last time in the gum and waited 50 mins and could still feel it

It's a shame I was hoping for general anesthetic but apparently they are only giving me a sedative if I ask

And just to top it off its at 2:30..... Tooth hurty? Anyone..?

I don't go no more after the dentist tried to pull a tooth and I had about the same amount of injections . so they stopped sent me to hospital . told me I would be knocked out . so I get there and they stick me with two needles and waits 30 second then say here we go graps the tooth and pulls . I felt like I was going to have a heart attack so I wont go back

Hang your head in shame at that one bud!

Sure you'll be fine, in my experience getting a tooth pulled is one of the less painful ones!

Last time I had it done was while on holiday in Florida - root canal had failed for the second time and I was in agony with toothache and had a jaw like Desperate Dan Went to an emergency dentist who took one look and said it would be pulled, went straight to the chair and I was all done and out the door less than 15 mins later!

this is a subject close to my heart.
when I was young the school dentist was a butcher and im sure she got off on torturing kids.

she literally gave me fillings with out any pain killers or cocaine.

people don't belive me when I say this.

I was literally screaming in the chair and she just told me to shut up

after that I never went again

of coarse over the years teeth break etc, rather than go the dentist I just got my files out and sanded them smooth.

tooth ache ruined my honeymoon I was in agony.

later on when I was about 26 my cheek started to swell.and swell and swell.
the next morning I looked like elephant man.literaly.
my face was so swollen my right eye was shut.

that's when I knew I had to go the hospital.
if I had left it a few more hours apparently I would of been dead from septicaemia.
I was rushed in for teeth removal and a drain was temporarily sewn in to the inside of my cheek to drain all the fluid.

I religiously go to the dentist at 6mth intervals now
trust me tell your dentist to give you extra cocaine and if he/she is anywhere as good as my dentist they will.

a very short probably a few seconds of discomfort is better than the hours or days of constant pain.

last time I went I had to have a filling redone
he ground most of the tooth away first.although it didn't hurt I felt like he was going to pull my head off with this clamp thing that was clamped to my lower jaw.
didn't hurt at the time but it did hurt for a few weeks after where the clamp had been.

I still would prefer to get any problems fixed straight away than suffer the pain

Never heard of cocaine being used at the dentist's, I too had many fillings at school by a foul breathed dentist. She wasn't to bad in the pain relief side of things though, although, it wasn't pain free all the time.

Mmmmh, had quite a few bad experiences with bad dentists, but quite a few pain free good ones to balance them out. I need a hell of a lot of work done on mine, but can afford neither the time or cost....sad really as I will become a gummy grumpy old b****r.........oh wait.......I'm already old and grumpy........oh dear....

Thumbs up teeth

Agree with Steve, old school dentists were real butchers, left a couple of roots in from when they tried to extract one of my rears. The Naval ones were just as bad initially - hated dentists.

However from the mid 80's things improved and the profession is now much better. As a civvy I now have a private dentist (very difficult to get NHS in West Cornwall) apart from the expense not a problem. Still have most of my teeth and hopefully will keep them for la long time

Lol funny you mention

I am now waiting to be rebooked back in to have it done under general anesthetic. Didn't realise they have to remove a small amount of bone too (gonna be sick)

So yeah, just waiting for my date now

I've always hated going to the dentist & haven't been for about 5 year as I was really put off the last time I went only went in for the normal scale & polish but she was a total butcher spent over an hour later spitting blood lost a couple of fillings & a couple more have snapped or little bit have broke off so should really go back if I can build up the nerve to do so but they'll prob want to pull the lot out as my meds have damaged my teeth but nothing hurts at the min tho
