It has cured the flashing light problem. I only had to send the plastic fob section of the key to him, and I don't know if you can start the vehicle with the key with out that part on it, but you could try it before sending it. I don't think it will cause the alarm to go off, but I'm not sure...? Alternatively he will sell you the repair kit, which consists of new buttons, a battery and new microswitch for around £7.50 + P & P. I can't do fine soldering and I didn't want damage any of the other components trying it. I guess you pays your money and takes your choice (as they say).
