My Good Deed - Helped West Mids Police
Well I was on the way to see my girlfriend on Friday night, the motorway started to build up 2 junctions before where I would usually get off so i decided to get off early which meant that I would have to go past a Ford I know of
Given it had been throwing it down I decided it might be worth a little detour for a few mins of fun I arrived there and was met by this; It turns out some silly old woman in her 60's had decided to tackle the 2 1/2 ft ford in her Ford KA The KA was half under water, the woman had managed to get on the bonnet of her car and then decided to take the plunge and wade through the water and took refuge in a house the other side of the Ford where she had also rang for the Police Upon arrival I immediately offered my services to pull the car out of the Ford however, I had forgot my Waders and had also took my wellies out of the car after shooting the other night One of the officers decided to go above and beyond and got evidence bags out of his boot and put them over his shoes and legs as we duck taped them to his trousers and waded in with a broom to test the depth, fair play to the bloke!!!! With my help I reversed in, he went in the boot of the KA grabbed the towing eye, attached it to the front of the KA and then attached the other closed loop around my tow bar, he wound the window down on the KA, removed the handbrake and the steering lock and steered the car out of the Ford as I towed it out After I towed it out Opening the doors Always nice to be able to lend a helping hand to someone in need The officers took my details and told me to expect a commendation in the post from the station commandant

Nice job.... bit worried about the advertising on the back, do you think she may have been smoking some of her stock, and thought the Ka was a Boat?

They found it quite funny and had told me that they had already questioned it and apparently it's a herb based diet supplement

Well done mate always nice to help someone out, a little while ago on a cold day came across an elderly lady waiting for the AA, she was clearly getting cold so got her to sit in my motor with heater going for half an hour till the guy arrived made me late but so what, could not have lived with the thought that she might have had to wait TOO long for the breakdown to arrive, Rick

As I was climbing his hill in 4wd in front of me was a Tesco Click and Collect van with 4 guys behind it pushing it up the hill getting nowhere, I pulled in front, towed it right to the top of the hill to be met by a group of old codgers clapping , little did I know the van was fully loaded No problem for the HMS Maverick though Although, if I see any w*nkers in BMW's/Audi's with their suits on and flashing bluetooth earpieces I leave them there I drove straight past my line manager last christmas he was stuck 1 mile away from work getting home but had earlier told me that I was the one who had to leave work last because we had feet of snow and I had a 4x4 I got my own back though when I ploughed past him in 4WD with his 1 series in a bush

Nice one mate Cops down your way must work for a living unlike the ones up here 2009 we had major flood & an old couple were stuck & the police wouldn't even walk through a foot of water to see if they were ok, my wife ran through it all (just had an opp on her foot) checked to see if they were ok & told them i'd be back in 5 mins with my recovery gear. When I got back the water was a good 2ft deep so backed in & towed them out onto high ground tthe poor women in her 70's was close to having a bloody heart attack & the police had done off. The old couple asked for my address so they could send me some money for towing them out bless them, I told them it was fine & I was just happy to help

It does make me think though with all these new cars and luxury and gadgets being put first, will there be any rugged, utilitarian cars that will even be able to wade to depths to be able to recover people?
