Machine Mart Code Wanted

Looking to buy a Clarke Welder and I know Machine Mart fairly often have 'vat free' offers on Clarke tools to existing customers.

Anyone had one recently that they don't need?

I've seen one on Gumtree nearby, but if that falls through I might have to stump up for new.

What are u welding ? Heavy stuff or sheets and body work?

If you want to do over 4-5mm and get good penetration really u need to spend money on a good used set or £700+ on a new set from miller or esab etc

I'd get a decent used 180 amp arc for big stuff and a nice snapon/cebora/boc pocket 130 for sheet/body, these are £100 used on eBay and very well built with all spares available and last forever

Hopefully I'll be able to learn enough that I can stick bits of my T2 together after cutting out the rust. All the usual bits are crumbling, so really just need the lower amps.

I have Rick's trailer to modify too, so maybe the odd bit thicker. I was thinking of something in the 130 amp range that can do 25-30 for bodywork as well. Never see much decent going for so little up here, always hunners of miles away!

I have a clarke 100en mig just fabricated and fitted a new front crossmember did some bodywork aswell and it coped fine first time i have used it with co2 and found it ok
Machine mart sometimes have offers coming upto bank hols so if i get a email with code you can have it

This probably isn't too far removed from the SIP unit i've patched your Terrano back together with so far.
Are you going for gasless or gas?

Was looking at the Clarke 145 which is no gas, but can be converted to gas easily enough. Everything I've read seems to rate the Clarke machines as that bit better than the rest in the same price tag.

Sealey's are also considered ok, but the Supermig models are gas only.

Given that I've never welding in me chuff, I'm looking to get one that won't give me feed issues etc. that the cheap ebay Chinese ones are generally plagued with.

I would be happy getting a used one, especially as I have a bit of cash in Paypal just now from flogging an old laptop. Talking of which, Pete, are you still interested in my wee Tosh Libretto?
