Hello folks, I registered today when I was at work, just having a look around as I am thinking of buying a Terrano 2.7.
I have had 8 Land Rovers including 3 Discoverys and am fed up with there poor reliability post 96.
I have looked long and hard at most makes of 4x4's within my limited budget and after reading reviews I have settled on the Terrano. As soon as I sell my car I will be hunting the perfect Terrano

Hi Jon and welcome aboard. Well I love my T2 and had it for 11 years but it's suffering from the tin worm these days but it's 17 years old.

All cars have their faults but have to say T2's are pretty reasonable. One issue they suffer is either misuse or lack of use of the 4wd system. The front auto hubs seem to cause issues when abused. T2's should not be used in 4wd on hard surfaces. Stacks of advice on here and a host of How to guides too.

now been with my 94 terrano td for 3 years still smiling

Welcome to the club, I seem to be doing this quite a lot recently.

I have had my Mav nearly 18 years from new, it is in pristine condition, even the MOT garage said it was the best he had ever seen.

So they will last if looked after.
Getting rid of that salt and mud encrustation is the key, together with loads of waxoyl

I do like Landrovers, especially the Defender range, but liek many big cars, they suffer from rot and what not.

the T2 is a great motor. Ive got a 3dr Maverick, and apart from a few initial issues, its been great, although its treated like a workhorse it is very forgiving. I cant imagine any other 4x4 will replace it, the alternatives are good but can be way more expensive to run and repair.

best of luck with your search, there are some fine examples out there. Check those sills, front wings, fuel tank. Check themileage, if high, watch out for faulty CKP sensors and MAF, but generally you will find these trucks sturdy and reliable!
