Well had a good day at Boxgrove today even if it was a little short as did not leave too early, within 20 mins of arriving, winched out a frontera that had gone into a bog hole, 5 motors in attendance none with a winch, (I got two) as I could go no further with this lot in the way and having watched two attempts to tow him out decided to offer my help, I was still the other side of a bank so they did not know my motor was there, when I offered a winch they jumped at it so using the bank as a stop ran the cable out to a block on a big tree and down to the fronty they had to use some strops as cable not long enough, ten mins of pulling and he was out, sorry no pics, fell over in the mud and was in no condition to hold a camera, but as consolation a pic of a landie in trouble, but I left him to his mate, Rick

it was, pic does not show it as it really was but as on my own chose a place to stop where I could walk/slip to take the pic, but the day was curtailed by the winch alternator failing so had to steer clear of pos winch situations as battery dying, need to find an alternator that will not be effected by dunking in muddy water, Rick

Might sound a bit daft, but ice cream vans were normally fitted with very good alternators. Find a dead ice cream van?

That is actually true, as they need to run fridges etc, also motor homes and limos will have updated charging systems

already got a second alternator, just for the winch but it is mounted where the air con pump was so it is low and gets wet, that is the problem, Rick
