When I got my 800 watt inverter for the boat, it came with huge crocodile clips and heavy duty cable. ( It's wired in permanently now via an isolator switch and is 18" cable length from the battery).

So keep it loose in the boot, connect it to the battery when needed.

It should still be quicker than using a 12 volt kettle, including the set up time.


So if it is raining.... think again.

Plenty of ideas here.


Why not fit a sink, a 12 volt pump, a water tank etc so you can do the washing up as well.

Having done all this tea drinking, you will also need a portaloo, or a bucket and chuck it.

Curtains, a bed.... maybe a shower, tv,

Why not tow your caravan all the time ?

That means the kettle is drawing just over 83amps

I guess the inverter pack is designed for it. Not sure the battery will like to much of that though!

Correct, but in simple terms,

Current = Wattage divided by volts.

For simple maths to show how the equation works...
wattage say 1200 watts divided by say 12 volts = 100 amps

However the inverter is not 100% efficient, maybe 80-90% so the current drawn will be more than the calculated.

So current may be 120 Amps..... but as said before, if the voltage at the inverter is lower than 12 volts, the inverter works harder, so may over heat and trip out.

So run your engine whilst using the inverter, or you will be drinking warm tea whilst waiting for the AA to get you going...

This cup of tea is getting to be really expensive now.......

not forgetting that when you pass a lot of current through a resistance ( cable in this case ) you generate heat ......needs some ferkin thick heavy duty cables to cope adequately and safely with that kind of current

So you won't be making tea all the time, so this extra weight will be carried for 99.99% of the time for no reason, thus increasing your fuel consumption.


Boy oh boy, the cost of that one cup of tea is getting to be astronomical....


Cost-a lot-Coffee would now be a cheaper option.... £2.50 a cup

this is probably the best thing that you can get!!
i have one and i can get a full kettle boiling withing 2 mins and i can also cook on it.
