Before we had the kids in the early 80's I used the cb radio a lot, even had a licence. Later on, the language on the CB was too strong when the kids were in the car, and idiots were trying to be radio DJ's transmitting music on the breaking channels 14 and 19 so the CB went to the big box in the sky, well the loft.
I did find it useful for traffic conditions as the information was always local and up to date.

i wired mine having mounted it in dash to feed for stereo, the one that feeds
the memory. found that in ciggy it could work loose and or if stalled then
restarted engine the electronic search would take the rig back to ch.9, now
its always ready, stays on channel and frees up ciggy socket for other stuff.

still on a magmount stinger twig, the cable routes behind dash then under
edge of transmission, under rear mat then sits in boot ready for action...

did wonder if radio would be safe being live if switched on, but found that
theres a safety device in the mike socket so once removed, whilst the
radio turns on, its muted and clearly cant transmit as mike is stored away.
