Yippy.............Im Staying!
As i told you all yesterday i had some bad news from the insurance company and thought the under writers were going to get the insurance voided.
They did i got a call today to tell me the under writers had declined my policy due to me being a "High risk". This is the same underwriters that have happily taken £350 a year for 11 years from me without a claim. Thank you "Highway insurance" NOT! (Chris Knott policy holders’ beware) However, after going back to Admiral who gave me the first quote, i though i would give them a chance again and see what happens, so i re-filled out the information on the multicar policy and declared the motorbike accident. It went up bout only £50 on the 4x4 and about £40 on the BMW, £90 in total, i though i can live with that, BUT just to be sure i rang them up to check i had done it right this time. Nice guy on the phone, very help full, UK call centre, i told him what i had done and he said he would check the policy i had filled in, then he got to the accident part, i see you have made a claim, could you tell me what it was for. I told him it was for the motor bike i was knocked off of. MOTORBIKE he said, why are you telling us about a motorbike were not interested in them, only cars, just let me check. He came back and told me the policy i had filled in was now wrong as it had an accident on it and as far as they were concerned it had not had an accident, so he dropped it back to what i started at. Now dont get me wrong, im still paying more BUT only £13 on the BMW and £15 on the 4x4, and i can live with that. So the BAD NEWS for you guys is, I’M STAYING |

Pleased its sorted just beware with Admiral they are shit hot on ANY modification from standard. That includes anything that you may see as trivial. Even safety measures such as reverse camera and sensors that actually reduce the risk to them. I had to pay £17 something to tell them Id fitted them.

this has implications for second hand car buyers, for example, if you buy a used car with 16 ich alloys, it may have left the factory with 15 steels, and been upgraded with second hand parts.
What would the insurance say about this if it came to a claim? |

good question I suspect if it suited them you may find yourself with problems I was that pissed off with them I asked how they knew which models had what. The reason was my jeep has 17" rims as standard whereas one a few months older and otherwise identical has 16" . Whenever you go anywhere which uses smart listings for spec & parts it shows up by reg as 16" which gives the incorrect impression that I have fitted rims from a later model as well as suggesting the manf say it has 16 as std. all they said was "we'll go by manufacturers specifications " Its endless when you think about it. Theyre worried about alloys replacing steels because it makes the car more desirable/nickable as well as more expensive for them damage replacement wise after a crash. Howeveryou can extrapolate that to cover all sorts eg if you buy kia sorrento you get kumho tyres on. Fine. What happens if you later fit Goodyear wrangler f1 4x4 tyres which cost about 50% more and meet or exceed all the specs for the vehicle BUT fall into the alloys syndrome for nicking or replacing post collision . Have you breached your policy conditions |

good one with tyres,
glad we got you still, had same issue with my cover years ago, some insurers trying to factor in incidents i had driving a bus for a living, yet having a psv ticket wasn't a requirement for my car policy. i felt that any other employee having a non motor related incident wouldnt have it brought into question, extreme but along lines crashed company fork lift, or computer even, hey its that daft. after all if you drive for a living say spend 40 hours more on road than joe average, more incidents are likely to come your way. glad admiral saw sense, happy 4x4ing...
