help on puttinga 3.0 engie in a 2.7
Hi everyone i use my 4x4 for towing my mini diggers. ive had a few troopers but as you know 3.0 BADDDD engines , tried a disco sorry to all disco lovers but wouldn't pull me out of bed . A friend of mine told me to get a terrano
which i did swb black o4 reg 2.7. BEST advice ever pulls fantastic only problem is drinks the fuel 70 miles to £20 obviously im pulling jcb 801 on a 8x4 iforwilliams plant trailer all together weights arround 2.3 is that right should it be using that much ? . if i come across a 3.0 engine is it possible to put it in my 2.7 will it fit ? as they are better on fuel. i know some will think sell it an get a 3.0 one but i haven't seen any as good as mine also has to be swb for when i reversing into my property as its tight. any info appreciated. ps im new to this first post |

terrano 2 regardless of engine good for gtw of 2800kg.
frankly nissan 3.0 has had issues, my trol's just rebuild hgf and cracked pistons love it but wouldnt have another, now know how much more work is involved in doing a hg etc atleast 6 more hours! stats a sod too compared to 2.7. only other troll would have wiht hindsight is a 2.8 straight 6, possibly chip boosted. either trade 2.7 in for a 3.0 terrano or patrol, ok contridicts last comment but are good tugs, gtw for troll is more useful 3500kg. suggest cost of swapping engines in old truck note effective, might be better if need more grunt on same engine to look at a power box / chip boost, believe they can push the 125 bhp of a tdi 2.7 upto around 160 that a standard 3.0 makes for less than £400.

you'd need a 3.0 bonnet too as the intercooler is offset to one side I do believe.
simplest option is just look out for a complete car TBH......shouldn't have trouble selling your 2.7....the Tunit kit is a good idea as it should add 20-25bhp but won't give you any fuel benefit......with a load like that on you will do well to get 20-22mpg frankly in a 2.7... |

could be tricker than just a power box, then from my experience increased repair costs in parts and labour. easier to change truck.

yep the 3.0 isuzu is best used as a paper weight
the 2.7 is dependant at the way you drive it tbh if pushed hard gives absolute crap mpg figures with towing 2300kg's the 2.7 will be pushed alot of the way apart from cruising solerman (rick) has the 2.4 petrol and i personally think you would be better of with this engine but again this one has faults as well but with the option of lpg woulb bring down the cost of journeys what sort of mpg do you get with out towing also you may find that the trooper was able to cope a little easier with the weight as you could have added an extra 1000kg should have gone for the 3.1td lol |

Thanks for the advice guys i think ill look out for a 3.0 terrano. Thor if i get one your more than wellcome to view. Guys anyone know how much mine would be worth 04 plates all black swb with chrome front dark tinted windows and the best interior and dash all black approx 84.000 miles. Thanks again ps wouldn't mind a 3.0 patrol would that be better than my 2.7 on fuel for towing.
