It's official, we're hooked...
A few years ago, we were having a hard time, Work was bad, the bank wanted the house, parents were ill, and our car was written off by insurance scammers. While it was my fault, as I went up the back of them, they stopped while accelerating along a motorway slip road, just as I was checking over my shoulder to make sure nothing was in my blind spot. Because of this, there was a delay in the insurance payout, as there was an investigation into it, since they had done it before!
So basically, we were struggling. We needed a car, urgently, and ideally one that could tow the caravan, but trying to find one that could tick all the boxes, at short notice, and with the limited budget that Suz's dad kindly offered to lend us, proved difficult. Some how, having never looked at one before, I discovered some interesting information on the T2, and after a couple of nights reading everything I could about them, I was amazed at how anyone who had owned one, loved them to bits. We decided to give one a try, and said that if we could find one to get us through our current difficulties, and keep it a year, then if we did not like it, we would hopefully be in a better position to find something else, and sell it on by then. We found a few to look at, but there were some real dogs out there, and that knocked our confidence a bit. Our luck took a turn for the better though when we got some good news on the job front, and the same day found another T2 to go and look at. It was what we were looking for, cheap, and cheerful, but sound, so we bought it. Apart from a few teething problems which taught me so much about them, most I was able to fix myself, and a couple of others, I had the very kindly offered help of Rick, we fell in love with the car. Roll on a year, and Suz loves the car as much as I do, so the T2 is staying, but we could now do with a second car for Suz. We start to look for another Terrano and I set a search up on Ebay to see what is out there. After about a month, we find a listing for a different Terrano, a WD21, that Suz's just loves. We watch it, do a bit of research, and ask the seller some questions, and it's all looking good. Then someone on here posts up about the "Old Terrano" on Ebay, and Suz's heart sunk, as other people started to show an interest, although most talked themselves out of it. We decided to lay low, and just hope for the best, setting up the Snipe program to do it's bit for us. Luckily we won it, and at a good price, so now had 2 Terrano's, an original T1 and my T2. The T1 needed a lot of TLC, and I did most of it, but discovered 2 problems, the biggest was, it has no provisions for mounting a Towbar, and there is problem with the rear brakes which is proving difficult/costly to fix. When the MOT ran out, it was parked up on the drive, and I keep meaning to get around to sorting it out, but life takes over, so we were back down to one working car. The search I set up on Ebay is still sending Emails, and every so often we spot an interesting one, but often they are snapped up before we even saw it, or when you look closer you realise why they are selling it. Then on Saturday, we were in Orpington, and stopped for lunch in a little cafe. Suz popped off to the loo, so I did a quick scan of the forum, and noticed a T2 for sale, just down the road. I showed it to Suz, and she immediately loved it.. We popped over to check it out on Sunday, left a deposit, and picked it up last night... It's a very tight squeeze, but we have 3 Terrano's, and a Caravan on the drive at the moment... Sooooo Our names are Clive and Suzanne, and we are Terranoholics... can anyone help us... |
