Holiday in Scotland
"She who must be obeyed" and I have just returned from a brilliant holiday in Scotland. The old Mistral did us proud !! Before the trip, I changed all the oil/filters and used the diesel kit from Richard at Pitstop, so Molyslip went in practically everywhere, and I also fitted ATM's.We left on the Thursday, travelling up to Gretna Green, a distance of about 345 miles from home, and stayed till Saturday morning. After topping up the tank ( £56:00 ) we headed North again to the Isle of Skye, and after topping up again at the Kyle of Lochalsh (£54:87 ) headed for the NorthWest of the island where we had rented a fabulous cottage for the week. Plenty of driving on the island resulted in me topping up again on the Thursday evening at Portree (£55:20 ) before setting off on Friday morning on the Southward journey to Kendal, where we overnighted , and again topped up the tank (£61:95) before driving down to Blackpool to see the grandchildren ( They live in Bispham) , spending a night there before setting off back to Swansea. Topped up again on the way down (£52:15) and arrived home with three-quarters of a tank of fuel left.
The price per litre averaged out at about £1:22 per litre , so all in all, taking in to account the distance and types of roads involved, we were really pleased. Anne loved the trip so much, that today she booked one week in a cottage in Torridon, followed by the next week at the cottage we rented at Glendale... So saving like mad for Scotland again on March 21st. 2009. Matt. |
