Actually Jim, there's a part that a half moon shaped place where erosion of rust made. So there's a gap where the rain/dirt goes in. Until I've got a repair properly, I was thinking to use this;

then touch paint it to cover at least.

As for noise, they showed me the steering stops and put some grease on it on both side. Then the garage's owner drove it and told be about shaft so yeah, I'd need to make sure if this is the case. I will go out shortly for night supermarket shopping, so will try the full lock. Wonder if I can record?
