Default Hi all

Just signed up today, I've been around on the internet for a long time, you just have to google search Mobieus_uk and the results are me from when I used to play a lot of online games, for the gamers out there unreal tournament, battlefield 1942, battlefield 2 and eve-online, I'm retired from all that now

Bought my Terrano ii SE+ just over a year ago as a fishing vehicle and it has performed perfectly, most of the issues I've resolved myself, for fun I'll list what I've done

1..door open light kept flickering, Traced fault to worn passenger side door switch, resolved issue by packing it out a bit more with a rubber washer

2..Lcd failing on the dashboard, bought it with this problem, Removed the instrument cluster and re-soldered the connections and while I was at it replaced all the cluster bulbs, halfords didn't have the 1.2w so stuck in 2w, now was nice and bright

this gave a new problem

3..after about 30mins of driving the speedo would go sticky, only happened when the lights were on, realised that the nice new bulbs I had fitted were running too hot/drawing too much current so out with the cluster again and fitted the correct wattage bulbs problem solved

4..very annoying squeek from the back, was to do with the spare tyre mounting bracket, it was exactly to do with the bolt thats in reverse, the panels are not welded and they were rubbing against each other, finally fixed it by padding out with a washer now I'm squeek free, i was gonna get rid of the car if i couldn't cure it as it was driving me mad

so as you can see I'll have a go and try and fix stuff myself, I do diagnostics for a living but not from the motor industry, my skills are in the heating industry

I love diesel engines and nothing I like more that scanning youtube and watching some of the smokey starts of big diesels, I'm the same about jet engines nothing like the whine of a turbine, best startup noise ever, sad I know but I'm guessing on this forum there will be others that share the interest

Spelling and grammer are not my strong points.

now to the new problem that my Terrano has developed, the dreaded Mil light has come on, there is no lack of power, everything works as it should and my code reader isn't picking up any codes, this was one of those obd ii elm327 bluetooth adapators and I've used the Torque software I'm currently suspecting that the code is not readable by my cheap kit and everything I've read up on says that the light always generates a code, but not every code reader can read it

any pointers be appreciated as my next plan is to pop down to kwikfit and see if there equipment is better suited to read the codes
