Portal axles (google them Alex) Used on Unimogs and you do get bolt on versions for some vehicles.

The other thing about lifting your vehicle is that you raise the centre of gravity, making it more likely to tip over and reducing the driveability of it - very important if it's a daily driver like yours Alex. I remember reading an article about a guy with a lifted Hilux, think the combined lift was around 4", not much more. His truck was his daily driver and replaced a Trol he had with a much higher combined lift but which he decided to sell on after rolling it for the third time (or something crazy like that) and he was starting to get worried about driving it on the road.
