Hello Everyone, Yesterday I serviced my Terrano 2.7tdi and all was going well until I drained the rear diff oil. Stuck to the magnetic drain plug were two chunks of what look like friction guide plates from the limited slip unit. Prior to draining the diff no concerns had been noticed - everything has been working as it should, no un-usual noise, no slipping or binding. I removed the rear diff cover, (it is the later C200 diff) and found another chunk of friction plate guide, but no signs of anything else in the diff. Has anyone experienced such a concern when changing their diff oil? I am now in two minds - 1) Re-fill the oil and carry on driving it, or 2) Dismantle the whole unit and investigate further.
I have done the standard checks on the diff - rear end up on axle stands and confirm correct operation, and everything seems as it should be. No sign of any marks on the crown wheel, or any of the other visible diff parts, but I am nervous in case anything further were to drop out from the LSD and potentially jam into the drive gears. Any advice or thoughts about this concern will be grately appreciated.
