The origins are a bit lost really - going around neighbours at halloween dressed up and singing a wee song or telling a story/joke is a very old Scottish tradition that the US destroyed and sent back as Trick or Treat.

Got the cubs halloween party tonight, fancy dress is the norm and I was thinking, for this year, what's really scary for kids? Jimmy Saville costume?

Guess that'll just scare the parents

Few years back my mate, who's 6'7", dressed up as the grim reaper and the 1st cub through the door, turned around and went straight home again, Now he's 12 and still can't stand halloween!!

All in, I think it's fine for young'uns and for having a bit of a laugh, not for teenagers to try and scrounge freebies and Tesco to sell eggs.
