With wheel trims, you need to make sure the edge of the trim does NOT go past the edge of the wheelrim. You must have it slightly shy of the rim edge.
The reason for this is to stop the trim cutting the tyre wall during cornering/bouncing as you travel - especially tight turns! Here the tyre wall is forced outwards, and a plastic trim edge can cut into the tyre wall and cause a blowout later on. Alloys wheels are available for caravans, most caravan shops sell them from £60 each - this may be a better option, as at least you know they are the real thing. Caravan Breakers are also an option - there are plenty of stolen recovered, or matchstick martyrs around that wheel can to taken from. |
