just been talking to my neighbour carl .... he has a pajero 2.5 td auto , and he says its fitted with 2 batteries as standard..... he reckons its for all the " toys " like air con , heated seats etc

And if thats standard unmodified spec thats the way it is and ins co will have that data not sure of the point youre making ?

Dont some mistrals come with 2 battries,Plank makes my elan 14 look very small.

I guess some are prepared in advance for beefing up and the wiring looms and fuses will reflect that.

I only have one battery (albeit the size of an hgv one ) with electric everything, heated seats, climate etc etc and (touch wood) no problems.

Your neighbours theory may correct about the toys but more likely a design error once the toys were loaded on and the battery kept conking out unless it came from the factory with battery and loom ready for hard graft, similar to how mod defenders used to.

My TII had space for another battery tray but as far as I could find the wiring loom was a one battery system.

Anyway wasn't planks problem excess current through an existing circuit as opposed to not enough current available ?

well i think i've found a quick fix to the problem of excess current on the indicator circuit!

I took all the light lenses off today, the previous owner as part of a half finished restoration nad rewired and renewed all the bulbs. Good job except one thing.

21 watt bulbs in all the indicators front and back

so by putting 15 watts in the reas indicators and 5 watts in the front where they wont realy be seen i can cut current draw by 66% that hould solve the issue. All the other bulbs seem fine.

I usualy fit a second battry on a transit, on the old Di engines you could get the battery tray fomr a petrol and fit it on the oposite side then charge it using a smart com relay, the sort used for spilt charging in a caravan. new transits make it harder to position the second battery. But it is ideal for roof beacons radio etc so you dont flatten the starting battery.

I got the first part of my new leather upholstery back and fitted it today I am very pleased with it

The rest is being deilvered as it is finished over the next few days so I can fit it all bit by bit to save having a cluttered space to work in. It should be all done for the weekend and i will post a few pics.
