i'm very glad to hear we have found the cause of the problem, brilliant, shows the garage know what they are doing, and when this new gearbox is fitted, the cars gonan be great.

Pete, the oil cooler for the gearbox is part of the radiator that cools the engine.

Manual Mistrals have a different radiator that does not have the built in oil cooler. At some time during its life (quite recently I would say), your Mistral has had a replacement radiator fitted, whoever fitted it fitted the wrong rad hence having to 'loop' the pipes from/to the box.

Basically your old box would have been pumping fluid to what it thought was an oil cooler, the lack of the cooler in the circuit mean the AFT would just keep getting hotter and hotter until........ well you know the rest

They are over £400, unless the insurance kicks in. Had mine done (they are the same) and had to pay, then claim it back.

windscreen doesnt really bother me to be honest , that can be sorted later , but if i claim on my insurance and pay my excess ( £300 ) is it classed as a claim and do i lose my ( full ) no claims bonus ?

Do your windscreen on your insurance, usually about 50-70 quid. It doesn't effect your no claims bonus, unless you bought your insurance of an ebay car dealer did you
Got my screen done on the insurance and got the one with a top tint into the bargain
