road gritting

just a note of warning lads(and ladies) in the s.east(kent) if you see a gritter dont assume the roads safe cos ive been out gritting all week only we are watering the grit down with sharp sand cos we are running out of salt. so please beware

Is it true that the grit/salt is only good for -6 degrees?
Not even sharp sand round here

i was told salt was only any good to -6 aswell,
