DIYService
HI Guys,
I recently got new tyres on the Mav, and brakes done. I figured I might try and do a service on it. Can someone tell me what i need to do a full ish service, and recommend oils/diff oils etc? Also, any suggestions where to buy? I am hoping to solve some minor niggles, one is when idling, it sometimes, irregularly goes a touch higher, then back to normal. What could this be? Also sometimes I notice when I floor it, the revs bounce up, but no extra power, as iff turbo isnt working or something, but I am pretty sure turbo is wokring because i can hear it..but it doesnt do it all the time, i noticed it today when accelerating from 30 to 40mph Hope you guys can help! |

Can't normally hear the turbo Clivvy, not unless you've got a K&N or similar filter fitted...? WHat kind of noise are we talking about?

just the normal sort of hiss of air being sucked into the intercooler, this only happens at a certain point of accerlation, thats pretty much turbo. I can hear turbo on any other turbo car I drive...???

well, my boost seems to kick in at 2500rpm ish, it does pick up most of the time. I have noticed it go funny only about 3 times now, its liek you get the revs, but not the power. I think mines the 2.7 tdi, well, it is, its got a big intercooler sat on top..!
i am hoping to achieve better running, nto that its bad right now, its just i noticed these minor niggles and i want to fix them before they get worse, especially the weird idling thing (where the revs rise slightly, then drop randomly) any clues as to what i need for a diy service? fuel filter, oil filter, oil, diff oil? gear box oil? are these easy enough to change? actually, i ahve the workshop manual, but hav efound it a bit complicated so far, havent checked it for servicing tho.. |

Don't doubt you Clivvy, just saying that on the three trucks I've had, I only ever heard it once i fitted the K&N, otherwise no fuss at all, so providing you've got full power and no air leaks anywhere its kushtie..

no dont worry, I didnt think you did, if anything, i doubted my self!
well, that sthe thing, the car seems fine apart form these minor niggles. it drives, it pulls and it hasbnt staleld yet. starts on the key. the only thing is, i got this weird revving thing that is so slight most people probably wont notice it! then the turbo thing, which as i say, isnt all the time, and around town i am using the turbo pretty much all the time, i am just very VERY fickle, and want my cars to be as clsoe to running perfect as I can! |
