ought to be Bosch but its written on the pump - huge object at rear right hand side under bonnet to right of fuel filter....if it is, you can run significant ratios of SVO/diesel with no mods.

have a look on maf if bosch or hitachi .bosch should be ok,

not sure about that...wifes T2 has Hitachi MAF and Bosch fuel pump..... pump is the key.

lidl is now too expensive for veggie oil best hope is a booker cash and carry or a costco there much cheaper than lidl or aldi

Cheapest forecourt diesel 99.9p per litre ( a rare sight too our local is 103.9) , Makro oil 73.3p per litre. Thats a decent saving on a tank full

makro have a special on, 13.15 gbp for 20 litres

im now running 50/50 with normal diesel just fine, dont have to worry if there is a coldish snap as well

he he, bunged in the first 3litres of SVO as a test yesterday, mixed with approx £50 worth o diesel. A bit wimpy i know but so far so good, so upping the ratio a bit over the next few weeks and see how it goes

Good man! In winter its probably best to not exceed 50/50 and i always let the plugs warm for a few more seconds after the light goes out before starting.

Bio diesel is good to use. to brake the soap and fat out they use caustic soda witch in older cars it will wash all the shit out your tank so you will find you will need to change your filters once a month for a bit. and it can brake down the rubber seals in the lines newer cars are fine as the don't use rubber. methanol is also mixed in at 10%. on new chip fat oil you would use 3.5 grams of caustic soda per litre. on used you got to do a ph test to determine how much you need. i run on 100% bio diesel in the cold months i run on 75% bio 25% diesel and have never had a problem.

ok quick update and not sure if its related but the trucks taking a while to start in the morning, don't know if its the veggie or just a sluggish battery or glow plugs? Also i now realise that the truck is a tdi according to the badging so not sure if that makes a difference? Will see what happens when its ready for more go juice

I've been on this veg oil bio stuff for about 6/8 weeks or more now and have had no probs. I've usually got it at about 10% diesel . The last couple of mornings were a bit cold but no probs so far

69p a litre I'm having it large mate

I've been told there is some winteriser stuff you can put in it but not sure what?
Anybody know?

twintin how much SVO have you got in? if its no more than that three litres you bunged in earler i can't see it being a problem....but once you get up to higher ratios (say 40% SVO or more) you probably need a pre-heater this weather.

As I said above, just let the glowplug light go out and keep the ignition on a few seconds extra before starting, that should help.

To be accurate its not caustic soda that attacks the pipes though. When you mix the caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) with the methanol it converts to sodium methoxide.....and once mixed with veggie oil it reacts completely to help form glycerin (the layer that settles out at the bottom), so in theory, if you've got your proportions right, theres no NaOH left in the mix....bodiesel doesn't like natural rubber and will attack it - its actually that doing the damage as opposed to any of the original chemicals. I suspect thats one of the reasons why you cant buy greater than 30% bio-diesel mix from high street garages...
