Default Cheap Satellite System - Aldi

I have just bought one of these from Aldi £64.99

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/58_9800.htm

I am going to try out when I get home from work tonight. I'll let you know how well it works. Bit of an impulse buy... I hope I don't regret it, but it has 3yr warranty and a 30 day no quibble money back guarantee!

Regards

Alan

It'll be interesting to see what channels you get because I don't think it's FreeSat is it? Let us know please

may struggle picking much up with a 32cm dish. May need to try a bigger one. Pending what zone area you are in within the UK

we tried one of these from Lidl. was very good and picked up all the free view stuff. biggest prob was locating all the channels once you had found the sattelite, but excellent when camping or away from a normal signal.

Right...

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you all on this one, but it's been a strange. troublesome and hectic month !

After an initial go with the dish, and not getting much sucsess immediately after I bought it, which I now put down to the proximity of trees and buildings blocking the satelite, I tried it again last night in a better area and was very impressed with it. Following some simple instructions off of the net, I found Astra 2 within two or three minutes and was able to find all of the uk channels with good signal strength.

I have mounted it on the base of a caravanners rotary washing line stand, which I bought from Stowford Meadows, whilst on holiday for £9.99, and used a couple of exhaust clamps to fix the bracket to the post section.

Great value system for £64.99. Highly recommended, even if the instructions aren't particularly clear!

Regards

Alan

my mate has just come back from his hols, and using his dish for the first time was very impressed, although tree's again were a major factor he managed to get a better picture by raising dish on a pole clamped to his jockey wheel, it just so happened that he was booked into 2 sites and both times he noticed that vans with dishes were clear off tree's, when he got there he was put by tree's lol, next thing is a chainsaw,, overall he is very pleased with the out come. by the way his dish came in a kit from maplin, £99.99.

I got one and used it for the 1st time at the rally. I agree what your saying about the instructions (crap) you say Astra 2. I got mine tuned into Astra 1F & 1E couldn't get 2. Was Astra 2 the only one you could get? I tried to get it as the instructions said Astra 2 but only got 1E & 1F

Hi Dinky, good site

I got all the channels on mine except channel4. Got all the Sky channels but obviously couldn't watch it as its not a sky box.

We had exactly the same on ours as Jocky, we could watch just about any prog in any language except the Brit ones NO Astra 2.

Hopefully that site will point us in the right direction in august , cheers

Jocky, did you do anything different in the set up (apart from being in a different spot) to get Astra 2

I'm getting confused now

All the programs were in english.

When tuning in the box to astra 2 it showed no signal or quality, changed it to astra 1F in the satelite menu and all was well, all the sky channels encrypted all BBC, ITV, CH5 and loads of others, QVC and all that stuff, but no Channel 4.

So was it looking at Astra2

BTW those signal finders drive me nuts
