does it feel like it's stalling at around 2500-3500 revs and won't go above 65mph?

sort of like stalling but without the engine cuttin out.

when you say you get into 5th and it's fine, do you mean to can give it the boot and it'll go without holding back?

sounds like the engine managment system is playing up a little to me. i would have said your intercooler has gone as we have had the same problem but we had the problem in all gears.

Whats to break in the intercooler though? Its a passive unit that just passes air between the turbo and the inlet manifold, cooling it along the way - no moving parts!

If the Navara engine had a MAF I'd have suggested that first...has it got one?

Could be a problem with the EGR.

Try asking at www.nissan-navara.net there is a lot of info on there.

so i assume it was blowing air out then? how on earth did it crack, was it a faulty casting or something?

i don't have a clue, i was puzzled when he said the intercooler is cracked. it could not get proper compression.
