What camping equipment

Hi everybody, I am an inexperienced camper, I have a tent which Donsimon gave me (cheers bud) and I am happy with it, I also plan on making a bed in the back of my truck for when it's just me.
I have a chair, a camping cooker and a very small foldout cooker too, also have a little stainless steel stanley pot/cup thingy which I like.
Everything else however I'm in the market for, usually I'm in the caravan so all pots pans etc. are with me, I don't even have a table.
I have been YouTube'ing etc. but I know there are some very experienced campers/gypsies on here and I reckon it could be a mine of information.
ANY advice and recommendations would be great guys, I will try and find some pics of my gear and post them up.

Depends on your creature comfort level.
I've got a couple of set ups depending on what sort of trip we go on.
Full on glamping down to one night touring.
If we are setting up a base camp which we will be returning to I take the big eight man and proper fold up beds,kitchen etc.
For a one night stop along a route I have the bed in the back or a slumit grizzly 3 man quick pitch tent with self inflating camp mats,double stove on the back door of the truck and simple cooking/crockery kit.

I like speed and the lack of messing about, and compactness, as long as I have somewhere comfy to sit and comfy to sleep I'm happy.
In the caravan I have a kitchen, the past few times I've been camping I've just had cold food, takeaway and pub meals. I'm not used to cooking when camping, apart from pot noodles .
I don't want a massive amount of equipment, I will buy a table for the cooker, or maybe make a stand for it and leave the table free.

My name is Zac, I'm 29 and I'm an Off Road Nutcase/Addict I too have a very crude setup of things I've just acquired over time and just made do with. I used to have a 2 Man EuroHike tent that's been on a fair few adventures with me now. As some of you may know, I've DIY modded a 3rd seat into the back of Terrance allowing me to do a full foldout of seats creating a flat 5ft 11" base that sleeps me comfortably (pics in my project thread)

My cooking setup is junk, I have a couple of s****y 1 burner camping stoves, a pink courier box full of old cutlery and other useful utensils, a couple of old mess tins, and a battered Eurohike table that me and PatrolMan Steve's boy Jacob broke armwrestling and it's had a hole in the middle ever since

I've been really really getting into 4WD Action recently and have been watching their entire backlog of full length feature episodes in chronological order. It's made me realise 2 things

1. How much I value all my mates on here and especially those that make the effort to drive the lengths of the country to drive the spectacular lanes that this country has to offer.

2. My camping setup is SH*T, and I really need to step up my game and get some quality kit for the many many many meets to come

I haven't a plan yet, or a budget

You mentioned budget, I hadn't thought about it, i haven't got much money to blow on it really but I don't mind spending the money on decent stuff.
I think I need to buy a table and then just sling some pots and pans in a box and go camping, whatever I don't use I know not to take again etc. No substitute for experience, that's why I was hoping some of the old timers on here would chime in, wheelie?, Daveyboy??

It's a bit big for me bit I may build something scaled down, it's worth a watch if you like this sort of thing.

I recognise that truck with that awning, I think we have chatted on face book before!!
I suppose wild camping really, will inevitably end up at a campsite sometimes, I want to be self contained though.
I've been trying to decide whether to put a drop down table thingy on the rear door, my door has dropped a little bit, if I can find a way to adjust it back up then I will fit something to it but I don't want to put too much weight on it.
I definitely need some sort of cover, it will need to be package and stored inside the truck though, I would definitely damage one fitted to the roof

When I actually get around to kitting our the patrol I will have plenty of pictures.
Of course the easiest option is a big tarp over the top of the truck covering a small portion of ground too just in case it rains and you will be good.

I'd hate to imagine the state of the first one after a day out on the lanes

Drifta make some brilliant kit but being all the way over in Oz makes having a set up built into the motor a bit of a problem.

Agree, can't see that first one surviving a day on a tasty lane!

Second one looks cool but I have to say I like my drop down table and my more rough and ready setup of single burner and box of utensils pots etc plus a camp oven and the firepit/grill... in fairness I'd probably think differently though if there was more than just me!

Problem is this country is so far up it's own arse with things like wild camping and laning that spending a fortune on stuff seems pointless.
Keep it simple and functional and add to it as you go along
