if the code is readable on the bottom,a sticker with the key numbers on it,you could find a win 7 upgrade disc and install that as it should automatically find the key in xp and wont need re registering.

My gut response is "if it's that old, replace it".
Sorry. I've recently purchased two laptops, a high end gaming machine for myself, and a sensible everyday one for my father. I got them both from Novatech down in Dorset. I can recommend both their products and their service. They're not the cheapest, but you can specify your laptop to what YOU require, rather than what the shop is trying to off load from stock. Here endeth my two-penneth worth. |

I would keep it as a spare and replace if you have the Dosh
I have just retired the wife's laptop and bought her a HP that has a Carbon Fibre case and its faster than my HP ProBook 6570b and was less than a third of the price !

Just building Windows 10 on a brand new 6470b that hasn't even been unboxed before for my brother as we speak, doesn't look like a bad machine at all

Solid State Hard Drive upgrade.

it's really speeded everything up but of course I have had lost the Encrypted HD as this I am told does not work with Solid State HD's. That said I don't need HD encrytpion for a home laptop it was just part of the original specification. |
