Thumbs up 2 Terrano Family

Thanks to all that were looking out for a decent Terrano for my Grandad, especially Thomas61 who did link me to this one even though I'd already seen it

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152297205735

Looking at how truly immaculate this one was, I decided to take a punt, had a budget of £1800 in mind for it and ended up winning it last minute in a Costa in York paid £138 quid more than I wanted but to be honest expected this to go for way way over 2k

I've not seen the car yet in the flesh but put a deposit down on it, should be collcting in a weeks time as the sellers sister had a stroke yesterday so he's had to leave home for a few days to go look after her.

Looking at it thoroughly on the pics it really does look well looked after, interior is tidy as I've seen one, door shuts have no corrosion which is pretty common on the newer ones, front bumper supports are intact and not rotten away and the towbar looks nice and black So all seems good so far

MOT history failure in september for a front fuel system component leaking but I've been advised that it was professionally repaired but I'll be the judge of that

Fingers crossed its a good un', hope you guys don't mind another Project Thread , will stay pretty much standard as it's for my Grandad, only jobs I want to do when I get it is;

Replace all fluids
Adjust torsion bars to raise the front level
Fit a set of AT's to it

Given I was allowed a 3k budget I'd say I've done pretty well there

Well done young man

If it's as good as the listing & pics say, you've done Grandad proud

Reverse Reverse Reverse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The guy was getting very very pushy earlier for a deposit, no soon as I'd done a car text check that horrified me, Elty and Bigbunny came to my rescue with the attached picture.

Turns out the mileage is dodgy and the car has been subject to a total loss and been re-plated at some point, even when confronted with the eBay screenshots confirming to the other lady that he was going to end the listing, he never did and also lied to me beforehand there was no apology.

Got very very shirty with me when I started to provide the evidence and told him about the Facebook page he started threatening me with "legal action"

Thankful that my boys had my back here cheers Craig and Elt, I don't use Facebook but glad they do on this occasion.

Be careful out there guys!!!!!

The hunt continues..............

I'd like to say that there's a moral to this story, but I think you already know that!

Never mind, you got out intact, that's the main thing.

Chin up bloke.

Bloody Hell mate

I've just checked the old MOT's & yes it was changed. The skanking bugger

Just goes to show "always do your homework"

He's saved to my fav sellers. I'll keep a look out for the relisting & ask him the question

I feel a report to eBay is in order if he lies

Is that the one about if something is too good to be true it probably is or have I missed a more obvious one

Yep, wasted money on a Car Check but was it really wasted money, I'd have been devestated if I found out afterwards that I'd wasted 2k of my Grandads cash, followed by regret that I'd have to serve time inside because I would have killed the scumbag!!!!

Don't think the checks were a waste of money at all mate, reckon it's saved you in the end.

Dam shame cos it looked a mint one too, those seats stood out to me as it looked the like the material on the later models.

Don't dwell on it mate, you have used your common sense and saved the day.

I've been nearly had a few times. My theory now is, whether I'm selling or buying, the other person is trying to get one over on me.

I've had a bloke try to blackmail me over a house sale, two Nigerians "unable" to count money out correctly for a car sale, a polish bloke trying to tell me he wouldn't pay the Ebay sale price as the auto gearbox on our V8 Jeep was shagged, despite it saying exactly that in the description, etc. etc.

If you always assume they're trying to fleece you, you are always on your guard.

Vehicle checks are NEVER a waste of money. My wife bought a VW Golf from a dealer, did a Veh Ch, and it came back outstanding finance. It turns out a lot of smaller dealers (they had 30 cars) buy vehicles on finance and then clear the finance as soon as it sells. But, that could still have bit us in the arse. You just need to factor a Veh Ch in as a necessary expenditure when car hunting.

Don't sweat it bloke.

I would have always done the text check before handing over any cash, alarm bells did start going off when I had 4 texts in an hour chasing the deposit I said I'd send him this evening

Let's see if I can find that unicorn again hey

Bloody hell! A lucky save. It did look tidy. Fortunately we are the Nissan family. There is a LandRover seller who is habitually ripping people off with £20k+ cars on an almost weekly basis.
