Windscreen wipers, anyone tried the flat blades for the Terrano

I need to replace the front wiper blades, the conventional ones are fairly priced, in fact in times gone by, I just bought the refill rubbers, but not all were compatible.

Our Yeti have the flat blades, so I have ordered a new set, which got me thinking would that type work well with the Mav/Terrano due to the curvature of the screen, which wasn't designed for these type of blades?

Thoughts and experiences please.

i have the aero on my t2 and its not used a lot and yesterday noticed that drivers side needs replacing and they have not been on long.
i got 2 sets 1 for each t2 but other t2 is still ok with old type.

Had flat blades on a Renault and are on the Skoda, they're wiper blades and wipe the water away. Can't say they're any worse or better but not tried them like for like on a Terrano. Clivvy had them on his I think so MoranoPete who bought his truck may be able to help.

Flat blades fine on road but my bosch ones on the trol and T2 are pants. Soil, mud grit etc seems to take it's toll much quicker than std ones.

I fitted Goodyears flat bladed ones on my r3mR I just fitted the shorter one to the passengers side as per the booklet and they were fine.

Also rustic have you ever tried a product like rainx?

Every once in a while I give my windscreen a rub with some 0000 grade wire wool, this does not scratch or mark the glass, then I treat it with rainx. It makes a huge difference, especially at motorway speeds, the water disappears so fast that sometimes it's better to leave the wipers turned off.

I have not tried anything but rainx, I think it is good stuff but it can be a little tough to polish off when you're applying it, I have a cheap electric buffer that I will be using the next time i do it.

I have used a rainx product for inside of the windows too, to prevent misting, a pain to polish off smear and glare free but works ok. I've run out now and I'm going to try Gillette shaving foam in a can, it's supposed to work well.

I definitely recommend the 0000 grade wire wool, give it a try if you haven't it makes a difference

I use flat blades by Valeo on the Terrano not sure how they compare to Bosch but very happy with them over standards. I think they clear the screen really well especially in heavy rain. They can actually drag water back a inch or two onto the screen at the top of the sweep when used on fastest setting but not a problem. They sit off the screen by about a inch at rest on the passenger side but does not effect cleaning as connects with screen a inch or two higher when used. Will never go back to standards now.
Could not get one for the rear as it has the same type but smaller size wiper connection.

I am a Rainx fan from when BL marketed it as a spin off from its original development for Aeroplane screens I think. The only downside is misting on the first wipe in light rain. I think it works best at 50 + mph with no wipers on. It just beads off. Currently using RAINAWAY by PRODRIVER as it was in our local Poundland type shop at £1.99 for a 400ml bottle. It was early nano technology.

Not tried 0000 grade wire wool I use a White Plastic Pan Scourer & Meths to clean the screen first. If you use Green ones they scratch the glass.

I didn't know that re BL, and agreed about the first wipe and speed, what is the prodriver like?

Some interesting points there, I have read about steel wool but too frightened to try lol.

A long time back, I bought a tin of rainX but I never used it all, but I don't know what happened to it lol. Bought it mainly for the boat screens.

I used to use meths and wipe the screen, but it left smears.
We have a Karcher window vac, and that works really well. In fact the only thing that can keep your hall mirror smear free. lol
