Faceache !!
Just a few thoughts following a recent thread on dwindling numbers.
It's been asked before but I think more relevant now . How about a like button and or most helpful vote button. Also can members be "tagged" in an answer so they'll know if they've been mentioned in a thread they're not following ? When I'm busy I only have a quick scan at new thread titles and if they're not inspiring I wont bother opening them. Now they could be a stunning read or a query I could help with and never know. On faceache the members name can be put in and then they'd be notified. This could build upsome more interaction on threads. Discuss |

Rather not for me. If I want facebook functionality, I'll go to facebook. I do the same as makeitfit, scan new items, and read if they look interesting or are useful to me.

Facebook has done for a few forums (mine included), but in this case there's so much access to technical knowledge and experience that I don't think there's any real risk to the forum. The banal chat side of things might reduce, but the need for access to the technical side will keep the place pretty safe I reckon

From my point of view, the reason I can't stand FartBook is BECAUSE of all that stuff, why do I need to "like" something from a complete stranger? If they are that needy then maybe they should have a "recommend for therapy" button. I also really DO NOT need to see yet another "cute" picture of their pet goldfish doing an impression of their two year old son doing an impression of a dog! (yes, that really was on FartBook! )
I like this forum because there is a bit of banter, we can all take a bit of ribbing, but at the end of the day, pretty much everyone has something constructive to add and more often than not, it's actually helpful. |

You can set your page to block all the apps and games you don't want though. And you can limit your contacts list too. For instance, I see people with hundreds of friends on their page (most of whom are perfect strangers) but I keep mine limited to people I actually know, hence I only have 30-odd. And I keep my block list up to date, and have the privacy settings quite strict. It's all down to how you choose to use it

I don't mean to add all face ache bloat and triviality but rather add a bit of momentum to a sluggish thread . For example a thread on tin tents will pass me by . However that thread may lead on to power issues or good places to eat in West Wales. I could help. Who you gonna call ? Tag me in it for added input. Just saying

I'd simplify as I never know where to look for certain items. |

Think Pete has a point, I d not do Facebook but I do live here, but find it hard to keep track of threads that I have posted a reply but not seen for a day or two, they then slip past me, so some kind of marker that says there has been a reply to that thread will let me know to look in again, the only way I can do it now is Quick Links/Todays posts then open the relevant section Pub/engines etc and search for what I think maybe the thread, Banshee, Bat21 You looking, Rick

If we need to make room on the site for some positive changes may i suggests AGAIN , Deleting all the people on the members list who joined for one day just to look and never came back again. there are literally hundreds of names on the list who's join date and last visit are the same, some going back to 2009.
Or are we like people on facebook just collecting as many friend as possible just to say "I'v got 4,000 Friends" ye! |
