Is this is good tent? (Pictures for Zippy too)

But on a serious note, this is the type of layout I want for our tent, one entrance, living in front, sleeping at rear.

Is this a good tent? Or is there better in same shape?

Personally I would like a seperate area for ablutions, even if it's only for a strip wash or bucket and chuck it.... waking up at 3am with a dash to a brick **** house in the pouring rain is not an option....
But that's me lol...

but as i've said find the ones you like the look of & then find a store that has them on display so you can have a good look at them

You will need to get a porch of some kind as when it rains and you want the door open it will get wet inside the tent with that design, believe you me it can get very hot in a tent even when it's raining , you need good ventilation or you will get condensation inside the tent ! Ian

Hi Gear are not bad tents for the money,

As with most tents they say five but mean 3 and a bit really.
Ideally you would need to see it up.

Have a look at decathlon for the pop up tents, quite roomy and easy to put up (bugger to put away until you get the knack)

Kyham are fantastic tents - as always you get what you pay for

Thought that's what a fan is for

got a meshed section low down on our to bring in cool air for a fan to blow around & it works great

even if it rains we are able to unzip the door a bit & the tent stops dry

Best to go to a shop or show and see them in the flesh.
I've got a reggata hydro fort six berth which sleeps 4 on proper camp beds .
Can vouch for its stability and waterproofing as it's been up on the garden until today in the lovely weather we have had for the last week.
Only problem is its a separate fly and ground sheet so can be a bit draughty in high winds.
My other one is a royal Hampton 7 with a side extension.
Full steel poles and sewn in groundsheet.
Sleeps 5 in comfort, big living area and sturdy as hell.

Now down to £130 without a voucher code Alex. Can't comment on the tent but it does seem to have mostly favourable reviews and at that price might be good for a few adventures.

Key things to look for in a tent, this is what Ive been taught in the leadership courses are:-

Seperate inner and outer

Inner has sewn in ground sheet which pretty much all have these days

Outer goes up before the inner which is not always the case so when its raining your bedroom gets wet.

After those just see what you think to them I guess, some of them you can leave the bedrooms clipped to the outer so that its easier to assemble. Never put a wet or damp tent away and store it, this includes your poles. Give them a good airing. Never wash any part of the tent or its bag in washing powder or detergents as it leaves residue that effects the waterproofing.
