Default I've just been rumbled by the wife...

Today, my wife decided that it was time to clean the oven... a task that I told her, used to take me all day when she used to work...

After giving her a brief instruction on what to do, she now realises that there is a lot of waiting around.... like in 2 hours, do this, then that and repeat this in 2 hours etc...
Overall the start of the process was done in 10 minutes...

She said, of course it won't be as good as when you would have done it...
Well of course, you have to agree with your wife sometimes, especially when your reputation is on the line.

Drat... I am loosing brownie points, what else will she find out about, I have another three weeks with my arm in a sling...

I used to take all day to clean the bathrooms, utility and down stairs cloakroom...

Any advice guys ?

You can refer to Cyril Parkinson, back in 1955 he invented "Parkinson's Law".
"work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion"...

That is so true...
If I only have a few hours to do a task.... that's it job done...
But if I say start an oil change... the wheel is off, out comes the wire brush.... then the waxoyl... now all the tools are out... might as well do the other side...

Any task that we do as men always takes twice as long as the other half. It's a simple scientific fact that we take longer on a task because we want to make sure that it's done properly......enough of the b&*€£$ks, your screwed. Best get yourself down to the local jewellers or off licence. Good luck

I have been home alone for the past four months, while my Mrs has been in the UK decorating her parent new flat , looking after our grand son and scouting locations for when we comeback this year. She arrives back one week today so I have got 7 days to rid the house of any sign of slobishnes, do a complete deep clean, sort out the garden, finish pointing the front wall(somthing I said I would do while she was away),bath the dogs, do some shopping, and go to work! MERDE!!!

Rustic you have been well and truly rumbled, you have no choice but to come clean and make amends, I always found that honesty is the best policy unless of course you are cast iron certain that it will remain covert, very few cases of that I have found, women have an uncanny sense of finding out, my best method is to convince them that I have their best interests at heart no matter what, Rick

Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.

Ah... after scraping the oven, and applying more oven cleaner my wife has admitted defeat, and that I did a much better job than her...

Now I think she is being rather clever to make sure that I will always do it in the future lol..

We had a great laugh this morning between us, more especially when I said I would mention it on here..
All very light hearted, and worth sharing lol...

Well of course, what else would you have expected, very canny are women, when our oven needs doing I make great efforts to do the bars in the sink when she is about, but other times I stick em in a bag with caustic, piece of cake, but as said only if I know cast iron she will not be back, Rick

When my Missus used to work in London and commute back to Derby for the weekends I would have this plan about all the jobs I would do on my mid week rest days.

What I would actually do is have beers in the garden, catch up on some Sci-Fi on the TV then about two hours before she was due home on the Friday blitz the house clean and come up with reasons for not having done some decorating. e.g. not sure about this colour etc.

The more time you have on your hands the less time there is to do stuff with the exception of bloke stuff. Its something to do with time management and multi-tasking. Even though I am male I have discovered I can operate the remote, drink lager and hoover at the same time. lol

It's not just me then lol... It's amazing that if I want to paint the garage wall, or garage floor, I always have time for that, or building extra cupboards etc...
However... it is so essential to make sure we can squeeze both cars into the garage when ever I have finished a DIY job, and also vacuum the floor too.
This is definitely bloke stuff, that women don't understand.
Now, it's not a coincidence that our beer and wine fridge is actually in the garage
