Default Galaxy S3 Again

OK you Android people out there, this dam phone is really annoying me now.

It has had a history of going slow. Last weekend for the third time I factory reset it again and pretty much left it at that for a couple days before adding AVG and left it again for a couple of days before adding the google app launcher. The launcher was nothing that special so reverted back to app whizz. Theres no data on there, no music photos or anything. Ive not even signed into face ache.

The thing has gradually slowed down again, not quite as bad as before yet but pretty certain it will do.

So question is, is it worth carrying on with this phone or just bin it?

Sounds like a memory issue on the device mate

Have you tried plugging it into the computer with a USB cable and updating it via Samsung Kies?

AVG is a bit over kill isn't it ? Try it without that . I use an app called LOOKOUT for checking nasties , so far so good.

I use Sophos based on a recommendation from a guy at work

I have an S5

Does it behave any different with the MicroSD card removed if you have one in?

I know another lad with an S5 who had some nasties on his MicroSD card and he was having the same trouble as you

Not really thought of trying it without the sd card. Ive been kind of thinking its old tech too. Yeah we have to use sophos on work phones but that phone holds no interest for me other than i make calls during the day.

Id pretty much made up my mind to go down the iphone route but was also hoping to save money by giving this phone another chance.

It used to be on 24 7 as part of the insuarnce cover my provider gave me but now my contract is nearly over I havent bothered to put their locating app back on so GPS is off. Yes battery life is different as expected with GPS off but so far Ive ruled it out of slowing the phone down.
To be honest Im begining to think the suggestions of a physical fault on the phone could be right but its out of warranty now so that is just hard lines.

Think Im going to back it up again today and then when my son surfaces out of bed Ill let him root it and see how it goes but Im not going to spend a lot of time and effort on it.

Last year I bought an iPad and so far its just as fast as the day I bought it so I think that speaks volumes for IOS.

Pete you know my background and I always tell people that the only silly question or suggestion is the one that doesn't get asked.

Yeah Googled it and as expected people have suffered slow phones of every type not just mine. Main suggestions are clear cache, clear running apps and restart which I tend to do regular but never really made much difference.

Now thats a fair comparision Pete, don't know the model of Samsung but its Android Im sure.

Wife has a smaller Samsung and she has no problems what so ever with hers and she plays games and alsorts on her phone. Its a basic phone and doesn't update at all which I think may also be a factor.
