Default Terrano bike rack

Hi everyone

Im after a bike rack for the back of my terrano - tow bar or rear wheel so we can go further afield when going for bike rides than the local paths as the little uns bike will go in the boot but no room for mine and the misses bikes?

I have one in the garden at the moment, not used it once yet

Brought it from PuddleHoppersInc before he sold his LWB Terrano

Make me an offer and I might accept it

I already had a bike rack for the other car, which has a bracket that you mount between the 2 bolt fixed ball and the tow bar.
However, the rear wheel is in the way on the Mav, so...
I bought a spare mounting plate from towsure, and some M16 all-thread and nuts, now the all thread wasn't strong enough on it's own, so I had some heavy duty steel tube, about 30mm diameter, cut 2 pieces to around 9"
This acted as a spacer for the bracket and using the m16 threaded bar,, through the tube, 2 pieces about 12" long, placed the bracket further back on the car.
My tow bracket has two sets of ball mounting holes, so I used the spare pair, so I didn't need to disturb the original ball.

Result... a very strong bike rack, but you can't tow anything with it in that position.

Hope it helps,
Rustic

I've got one of them Thule back rack things that fit on the towbar.
Bought it as just a rear load carrier but got bored one day and bolted my roof mounted bike racks to it.
Can carry 3 adult bikes on it no problem.

Sorry to get your hopes up mate, I think I'm going to hang onto it, I've realised I'm going to need it a LOT come summer and I don't really think it would be best to throw my 2k LaPierre in the back

+1, mind you if the bike's worth more than the car...

I looked at these and thought the spare wheel would prove an issue?

Also the ones that mount on the spare wheel - would the weight be bad for the back door?
our bikes are a Kona for the missus so pretty light weight and Ive got a Carrera Banshee so again not real heavy.
